Virgin Slave, Barbarian King

I want you to read all the posts about Louise Allen's Virgin Slave, Barbarian King.

Here is the link to the original piece by Julie Bindel that started the whole debate.
Here is a link to the Harlequin page of the novel.
Here is a link to the first discussion on TMT about Bindel's article.
Here is a link to my discussion of happy endings and the hero's moral education.
Here is the link to the main TMT post that links to all the other analyses and reviews. Read all the analyses and at least the reviews from both Sarah and Candy at Smart Bitches, Jane and Jayne at Dear Author, and one other.
Here is a link to a TMT post deliberating about the difference between review and literary analysis.

And then comment here about what you think about everything! ;)

I have read a good majority of the original review of this book that was written as well as the blogs that were posted in regards to this book.

I am going to be perfectly honest here: I am not a romance fan. It's not that they are all "bad" books or whatever... it's just not what I enjoy reading. I enjoy reading things that are profitable for my spiritual growth, things that will help me in this journey of life. The books that we have been reading have not been enjoyable to me, although Something Like Love was certainly much better than the others. When I read her response to Virgin Slave, Barbarian King, I understand the viewpoint that a lot of these books are the same. I know, I know... many of you will disagree with this viewpoint. Yet, to me, they are the same book with different people. I am not trying to offend anyone here; I am just stating my personal feelings about the matter. However, I do think that she could have stated her position in a much better way than the terms that she used. Although I did not agree with all of her comments, I did understand her "boredom" of the universal romance that for me, is a waste of time. (Sorry.. for me, this is just the truth) I was very offended with the way that the Bible was so commonly compared to these other books and how Jesus was portrayed in the cartoon by Eric. It was quite evident that there is a true lack of understanding about Jesus and His ministry, His work, His Spirit, His salvation, and His discipline. Serving Him is not a submissive attitude as was portrayed in this blog. Serving the Lord, the God who has changed you... who has changed your heart, your mind, your attitude, your personality, your life, your friends, your family, your everything is a pleasure! There are so many things that I could bring out in this blog, but I did want to say that I understood where the author of this analysis was coming from (in a general basis) but I did not agree with all that she actually said in regards to the matter. These were my thoughts of this thus far.....
